Learn before you earn or how to achieve success in business

Learn before you earn, walk before you run or how to achieve success in business or life. The key to success in anything in life is knowledge. When you learn you will obtain knowledge. Learning about a subject matter is the first order of business in business. How can you write, create, manage, design if you do not have any knowledge on the topics at hand? You must first begin to stockpile information. First you learn then you earn. You can not expect to draw a Rembrandt or Picasso if you have never help a paintbrush in your hand. By the same token you can't expect to navigate the social media world or design a web page without obtaining the education needed to guide you through a crowded virtual highway.

Knowledge is Wisdom

A wise person is not born wise. It is a long process to obtaining wisdom. You are wise if you learn from the mistakes of others, then you don't have to make the same mistakes yourself. A very wise lady once told me that information & to reinforce the statement the wise young lady presented me with the aforementioned saying on a wooden plaque when I moved away from home. Yes you guessed it! The wise young lady was & is my wonderful mother. The actual plaque read "Learn from the mistakes of others, you can't live long enough to make them all yourself." I memorized it although I did not always follow the wise words. Hey I'm human & I was young.

Educating yourself will be your most valuable tool in your toolbox. listening to those willing to share their experiences are invaluable. There again you can save countless hours of reading, making missteps & correcting them if you find a mentor or sit in on a few seminars. People love to tell you how smart they are on a topic. Great! Allow them to elaborate & pay attention closely. Take notes if it is appropriate or record the information, if they are willing to give you pointers. Someone else who has learned form a mistake or who knows a shortcut may save you innumerable hours of midnight oil. One day you may even return the favor by assisting someone with your knowledge.

Knowledge is plentiful. If you don't believe me just ask your mother, dad, boss, spouse or neighbor about a topic that are educated on & watch how willing they are to educate you on how wise they happen to be on the topic. I stupidly asked my husband about the game of football years ago. Suffice it to say I got a football game length lecture on the subject. Another time I asked him about writing songs. You got it! I was in a chair in his music studio getting a crash course in songwriting. The point is people are ecstatic to share their wisdom. Thankfully knowledge & wisdom are plentiful unlike time which is ever fleeting.
